This blog began as reflections on my doctoral research; however, it has morphed into also discussions and reflection on online/eLearning issues, course design, and the intersections between my current research interests. My current research interests involve learning theories, communities of practice, game-based learning, mobile learning, “best practices” in online learning, and Web 2.0 tools.

- I earned my PhD in Educational Technology in Higher Education through Walden University. My dissertation title was Perceived Attributes and Organizational Support Influencing Course Management System Adopter Status in Historically Black Colleges and Universities. I also have a M.Ed. in Secondary Education/English concentration. I am currently working as an Instructional Design Consultant and Educational Speaker with Creative Learning Solutions.
I have over 20 years of experience (K-20) teaching and developing face-to-face, web-enhanced, and online courses, workshops, and webinars. My electronic portfolio is a constantly changing artifact which highlights my skills and professional experiences. Most recently I have been using Articulate Studio and Storyline to develop interactive learning modules and activities for the NC Virtual Learning Community’s Certified Online Instructor course. I have prepared scripts and storyboards and developed numerous instructional materials including Camtasia screen-captures, PowerPoint presentations, webinars in Adobe Connect and Elluminate, and SoftChalk interactive learning activities. I worked with product development professionals, 45 faculty and subject matter experts from K-12 and community colleges to create over 50 interactive 3D learning activities—primarily STEM-based. I utilized several wikis, Google docs, E-mail, and Dropbox to facilitate collaboration and content management.
I am a people-person who is committed to customer service and thrives on being able to build partnerships and collaborate with others. I am a global thinker, yet I have developed the ability to attend to details. I have a proven track record of working effectively with a variety of stakeholders, finding innovative ways to solve problems, meeting the varied demands of an educational institution, and being flexible enough to address problems while maintaining my workload. I am able to work independently to meet multiple deadlines.
